This course will introduce you to the dynamic style of ashtanga yoga as taught by Sri K. Patthabi Jois of Mysore, India. It is designed for complete beginners as well as those with some experience, who wish to properly ground themselves in the basics of ashtanga practice.
The course will cover postures from the first part of Primary Series. We will focus on breathing (ujjayi), use of core muscles and energetic engagement to increase power (bandhas), the flowing sequence between postures (vinyasa), the fundamentals of eight limbed yoga, philosophy, meditation.
Please note that ashtanga is one of the more athletic forms of yoga.
